All members (all ages/skill levels) are welcome.  This weekly paddle, led by Wade Martinson will focus on:

1. Having Fun!!!

2. Developing skills required for future river/ocean trips and voyageur brigades and VCKC's annual Fundraiser for Easter Seals - Paddle for the Kids 2023. For more information about brigades visit: https://voyageurbrigade.org/

3. Providing paddlers the opportunity to experience all positions in the boat including bow and stern (as appropriate - based on skill level).

This weekly practice will happen all winter, rain or shine, and in the dark. In fact some of our most enjoyable and beautiful paddles occur in cooler weather under a full moon.

Clothing and equipment:

All paddlers are recommended to bring a dry bag with a change of dry clothes in case of capsize (unlikely, but best to be prepared), and wear appropriate clothing based on conditions [e.g. quick dry base layer (wool or synthetic) gloves, hat or tuque, rain gear]. Some members may wish to wear a farmer john/jane or neoprene top/bottom. Paddles and pfds are available at the clubhouse.

Meet at VCKC at 5:30 pm and be prepared to work as a team to transfer a Big Canoe from the rack located at the beach into the water. Many hands make light work :).

Registration is recommended but not required. This helps us know how many people will be attending.

Each week there will be different Stern Leaders.

Please note: In the event of high winds (over 15 knots) practice will be automatically canceled.
