Preliminary plan for this Flat Water Paddle is to make the trip from Becher Bay to Pedder Bay by way, (if winds permit) of Race Rocks and certainly by Bentinck Island.

If the wind conditions are not suitable, another, more sheltered site will be chosen - possibly in Cowichan Bay as the tides will be high throughout most of the day.

If you need a partner, we will try to match up solo paddlers as best possible.

Meet at the VCKC Clubhouse on Gorge Road at 8.30am to ensure everyone has the necessary equipment and to join up for simpler transportation.

Please follow the forecast and dress accordingly – best to assume some rain and to dress warmly – you can always take off layers. Also bring a complete change of clothing in a waterproof container like a drybag – you never know!  Food and drink as you wish.

Craft must be equipped according to Transport Canada Safe Boating Guide ,page16.  This includes a throwbag/heaving line; a PFD for each paddler, a bailer or pump, and a whistle or other sounding device. Club policy requires that you wear your PFD, that you have a spare paddle and that canoes have a painter bow and stern.

If you need to use Club equipment, please contact canoe@vckc.ca  for canoes and  kayakbooking@vckc.ca for kayaks.
