Hi VCKC Kayakers and Canoeists,

It's time to take a tour of downtown Victoria on Saturday April 10 2021.  We'll launch at the VCKC clubhouse beach and paddle through the fabled Tillicum Narrows - current charts promise a light ebb current in the morning (pushing us through). Then, onwards to the shipyards.  We'll exert maximum restraint to avoid a stopover at the Fol Epi bakery (or will we?).  After an underside view of the new bridge we'll enter the Inner Harbour.  We'll follow the paddlers route under the new Marina and check out West bay. If paddlers are feeling good, harbour traffic is light, and conditions are amenable, we may cross from Barens Isl to Shoal Point and loop ourselves back up to Laurel Point and cross back to Songhees Point. Lunch spot scheduled for a beach in the the West Bay area.

Registration Note:  All registrants will be first put on a waitlist and then notified when they are added to the trip.  Click on "Join Waitlist" to register

An objective of the trip is demonstrating how to paddle safely in the Inner Harbour, following the Port of Victoria traffic rules.

Paddlers will need to be comfortable paddling under the Tillicum Bridge with a current of up to 1.5 knots. We will be going out on the ebb and in with the flood, so we will be paddling "downstream" both ways.

This trip is open to solo kayakers and canoeists.  Canoe partners need to be members living in the same household

The launch at VCKC has toilets but our planned lunch stop does not.  There is a public washroom en-route at Fisherman's Wharf that could be used, but it requires a dock landing.

Paddle Distance approx 11.4 km (6.2nm )
