Hello all members,
A Big Canoe paddle of the Victoria Waterways Loop is planned for Saturday, October 1st.
It is a novice level loop trip of 16km that starts and ends at the VCKC clubhouse. This route requires a substantial portage of approx. 1km from Portage Inlet to Thetis Cove on Esquimalt Harbour.
It also includes a stretch of about 4 kms on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, where strong winds are common. There is some shelter behind small islands.
We will pass many interesting sites - Canadian Navy ships, the downtown, sea planes, Esquimalt waterfront. The trip is described at this web site:
https://vicwaterloop.ca/about-the-loop.
Those wishing to participate who do not have Big Canoe experience are required to attend one of the following Voyageur Thursday sessions:
We will meet at the Clubhouse at 8:30 am and plan to be on the water by 9:00 am. We should be back at the clubhouse before 1 pm.
Please bring the following:
Packed lunch and change for coffee or snacks should we stop downtown for a coffee break, dry bag with spare clothing, PDF and paddle.
Please visit this event on the Club Calendar or Big Canoe Calendar and click Register to sign up.
